PROJECTS
Batemans Bay Heritage Museum is currently focusing on several major projects, ranging from ensuring that our collections are made available online, continuing our stewardship of the historical buildings the Museum is housed in, and reinterpreting the collection in light of the coastal and marine environment that make Batemans Bay unique. Read more about these projects below.

If you would like to get involved in any of these projects, please contact us to discuss, or explore our membership and volunteering opportunities.

Digitising Our Collection
Our volunteers are currently working to make our collection available online via eHive.
Exploring Coastal Culture
A key objective for the Museum over the next five years is to explore and document the rich maritime heritage of the Batemans Bay region.

Upgrading facilities
The Museum has upgraded entry ways and bathrooms to be accessible, and a current project is to install climate control across the building to ensure a comfortable environment for visitors throughout the year.
Expanding volunteer capacity
The Museum is working with experts in the field to expand volunteer capacity in the areas of preventative conservation, interpretation and collection research.

Research
The Museum's research group consists of members and volunteers who enjoy the investigative process of uncovering new knowledge and archives. The group meets every Tuesday, and focuses on personal interest projects as well as research on Museum collections, and a variety of aspects of local history.

The research group is available to help with local history enquiries. Contact us for details.
Mogo Veterans Project
Mogo Veterans project is funded by a grant from the Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program, and will explore the hidden history of WWI veterans from Mogo. The project will culminate in an exhibition, planned for April 2026, as well as a publication and a virtual memorial to Mogo WWI veterans.
